Large lounge/sitting area in reception. Small room balcony with views etc. Excellent value Brassier value prices.
Poor heating control in bedroom
The room was very pleasant, and the view over the golf course was spectacular, the food and service were of a good standard.
Very grand entrance and foyer, lovely, clean room. Staff excellent and food was fantastic, especially the Camelot Restaurant we ate at. Will definately return.
A good meal. Nice views. Beds had comfortable mattresses. Well designed shower room. Quiet location.
I did not like the pillows - very thick! poor night sleep. Unfortunately swimming pool was closed during our stay, so we only stayed one night (had booked for 3 nights) Further out of Maldon than had realised, because of the winding country lanes.
Major improvement since my previous visit. The standard of the rooms was very high, with a extra large comfortable bed. Staff were very professional and nothing was too much trouble. Food in the brasserie restaurant was very good.
Pool is not designed for doing length swimming, and some of the gym equipment needs updating, and possibly a few more machines. Breakfast didnt live up to the same expectations of the meal the night before
Smart layout with good size rooms including flat screen TV. Nice grounds with ample parking.
TV reception poor on some channels Limited choice of fruit at breakfast Location description misleading
A splendid hotel and so clean and comfortable a worthy spot for anyone to book
The spa and gym were the best part of Five Lakes
The rooms initially are very spacious and lovely however, they are very dusty and that's not because of the refurb going on because we stayed in the village. The weekday staff were very helpful however the Saturday staff on the front desk one in particular was really rude not just to me but to others in our wedding party.
Great location close to Layer Marney
Waiting on staff not sufficiently trained. Too many managers walking around not doing anything (stopping to talk to waitress bringing hot food to table is very unwise). Waiting for food extremely long especially when there are few customers. Too much talking among staff and not enough looking after customers. Directions given by reception staff quite vague. Signs not posted well for directions. Weekend menu not varied enough. No exhaust fan in bathroom (smells & steam predominate!). Beds too high for short people. Long periods of waiting too much for blood pressure.
Our bedroom; super bath, large comfortable bed with lovely view.
Bedroom should have been available at 2 p.m but was not ready til 3 pm so we were just hanging around. Food and drink were very expensive. Jacuzzi was not very warm at all.
The rooms were excellent, the bathrooms were excellent and the beds were very comfortable and the surrounding were very relaxing.
The drinks at the bar are very expensive and we waited approximately 20 minutes in the restaurant before our orders were taken, and it was only because one of our party called the young lady over and ask otherwise we were not offered bread with our dinner starter, all in all the service in the restaurant was very poor.
Beautiful views and very friendly staff, reasonably priced food an beverages and general peace and quiet most of the the time, ideal getaway location and only and hours drive.
Too many children that woke up far too early, it was Easter weekend but perhaps the hotel should have a designated area or put couples away from families with children.
The warm friendly staff in the restaurant.
No concierge available to remove our luggage on check-out
The hotel staff. We were impressed by the check-in staff on reception, the evening duty manager & service staff at breakfast. All were welcoming, helpful, charming and very well trained. Proximity to the event we were attending at Layer Marney Tower.
